Q. What inspired you to become a professional footballer?
A. I started to play football as soon as I could walk. My cousins (3 boys) taught me a lot, how to kick the ball hard and how to use my body in tackles. We used to play football at their farm. They always told me to join a club so when I was 8 years old I finally joined a local boys football team.
Q. What's the best piece of advice you've been given?
A. I really like the following quote: “If you want something you have never had. You must do something you have never done.” I try to keep that in my mind throughout my career.
Q. What is your proudest moment in football and why?
A. I played the semi-final of the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship in France which was definitely a great experience in the early years of my football career. I was also proud to score the winning goal for the Blues Ladies in the quarter final of the FA Cup against the holders Arsenal FC and to get to Wembley with my team. That was probably the most exciting moment of my career so far.
Q. If you could play against any team in any league in the world who would you play, in what stadium and why?
A. I would love to play against Lyon as they are probably the best team in the world at the moment. Players like Le Sommer, Hegerberg and Maroszán bring a lot of skills on the pitch and it would be great to compete against them. The stadium I'd love to play in would have to be either Camp Nou in Barcelona or Bernabéu in Madrid especially as I've already experienced Wembley through the FA Cup Final.
Q. What are your favourite pre and post-match meals?
A. I love to have a normal breakfast such as dark German bread (my family always brings some over from Germany), egg, cheese, avocado and some vegetables. I like to finish with a small bowl of muesli and yogurt. Post-match I prefer a good pasta dish with salad.
Q. What is your favourite way to use pure Canadian maple syrup?
A. I like to add maple syrup to smoothies and acai bowls!
